                                  Telling Time 

In English there are several ways to tell or ask for the time. (1.) Present Simple Be 

(2.)  Present  Simple.

When we refer to "time" in English we usually say "it" when we use present simple be.  

                                           "It"  =  "time", "day", "month","year" & "weather"

                                                                             Question                                  Answer

Present Simple Be:  Example#1              What time     is  it ?                           It's  3:00.

                                                         What's the time?                           It's  2:30

Wrong! We don't say -                No!   (What time    is  the time?)   No!

                                                What year      is  it?                      It's  2008.

                                                What month   is  it?                      It's  June.

                                                What day       is  it?                      It's  Friday.

                                                                         What was yesterday?                    It was Monday.

• since - I didn't see her since I was 10 years old.
• until - I will not be home until 7:00 PM.
• within - I will be there within 2 hours.

Present Simple:            What time   does   Mark    play pool?              At 3:30 P.M.                                           When         does   Mark    play pool?              At 3:30 P.M.

                           What time  do       they    play pool?               At 6:30 P.M.
                            When         do      they    play pool?               At 6:30 P.M.
