put on = ponerse look for = buscar at least = por lo menos
I put on my shoes. We look for the dog. At least you eat the pizza.
I put my shoes on. NO XX We look the dog for. NO XX You eat the pizza at least. We look the dog for. . I
I put them on. NO XX We look it for. NO XX You at least eat the pizza.

3. pick out (s)

5. find out (s)

6. look for

7. on purpose
for a reason a propósito John picked out the book on purpose. John escogió el libro a propósito.
8. figure out
a. understand a. entender I can't figure him out. No le entiendo.
b.calculate b. calcular You will have to figure out the price. Tendrás que calcular el precio.
9. dig out (s)
a. excavate excavar, sacar John dug out the money. John sacó el dinero.
10. go on
continue continuar Janet went on talking. Janet continuó hablando.

15. talk back
talk impertinently contestar con impertinencias Don't talk back to me! Contestéme con respeto.
16. abide by
obey the rules acatar, cumplir (promesas) Mark has to abide by the rules. Tienes que acatar las reglas.
17. die down
to reduce amainar (viento), The wind died down. El viento amainó.
apagarse (fuego) The fire died down. El fuego se apagó gradualmente.
18. invite out (s)
invite someone somewhere invitar John invited his friend out. John invitó a su amigo al club.
19. try on (s)
test clothes probar ropa They tried the shirt on. Ellos se probaron la camisa.
20. so far
until now hasta ahora Until now they understood nothing. Hasta ahora no entendieron nada.
21. get back at (someone)
retaliate retaliar I will get back at you. Me vengaré de tí.
22. look up (s)
a. to see up ver arriba Look up! It's Superman! Ver arriba; allí está Superman.
b. find information in book .. buscar Please look up the answer. Por favor, busca la respuesta.
23. mark down (s)
a. reduce price bajar el precio We'll have to mark down the shoes. Tendremos que bajar el precio de éstos.
b. write down anotar Please mark this down. Por favor anota la fecha.
24. put out (s)
a. extinguish fire, light a. apagar fuego, luz He put the fire out. El apagó el fuego.
b. take out b. sacar They put out the trash. Ellos sacaron la basura.
25. lie down (s)
a. sleep dormir He is lying down now. El está durmiendo ahora.
b. rest horizontal position descansar I lie down at the beach. Descanso en la playa.
