A few years ago the College of Journalists called for a better legislation on this issue, you as an advocate of the College of Journalists, what is your opinion about this order?
AD: I consider it important, in fact, the IPLEX backed him, however was not approved in the Legislature, was only approved after 10 years.

AD:Obviously, I think it is very important, as I mentioned above is the foundation of any democratic system.
What do you think about countries that do not have press freedom?

Purchase & control of communications
Oscar Arias through the SAMA group has adquired numerous broadcasting stations all over the country & the newspaperLa Repblica.
Additionally they have help from the owners of the newspapers La Nacin &Al Da, and the support of the dominate journalists in the principle television stations. The Arias control of the media is almost total.

Following is an editorial written by the Oscar Arias-Sama group who controls La Nacion. This narrative was written several days before the short "Golpe de Estado" of May 1, 2011.
It is a last minute doomsday article intended to instill imaginary holocaust and fear of apocalyptic proportions into the population should their ruling party of Oscar Arias & the PLN lose control of Congress and access to the country's resources.
Conversely it is this same fear that they intended to inflict on others that now permeates their lives.
Their loss of their unrestricted manipulation of the countries resources, bribes to be had, access to funds to be looted for their coffers, extortion, blackmail and beatings of families and businesses would leave their daily quota road kill left strewn along the highway cut to a trifle.
The power of the media, La Nacion, lies in its ability to lie, implement fear tactics, coverup and deceive the public all of which are instrumental in maintaining its hold over their extensive self-enrichment machine.
At will the Costa Rican media under direct mandate of Oscar Arias and Laura Chinchilla and the supporting political kleptocracy premeditate lies, distortions, blackmail, beatings and extortion of citizens and the business sector to continually grease the activities of Oscar Arias, Laura Chinchilla, the Partido Liberacion Nacional, the ruling elite and their "Ultra Repressive" Presidential Police - La DIS.
La Nacion and their backwater tributaries in ever sense of the word are dictatorial newspapers rapped in feigned self-righteousness.

Former President Monge Blasts Arias and the PLN
http://insidecostarica.com/dailynews/2005/august/25/nac03.htm
Former president Luis Alberto Monge spoke out yesterday on his position of presidential re-election and attacked former president and current presidential candidate Oscar Arias.
Monge said "for the health of the country's institutions it is absolutely necessary that we don't get consumed by a coup d'etat, by electing a candidate that defies Article 132 of the Political Constitution."
The former president's comments were directed at Oscar Arias who is running for re-election after the change was made last year to allow re-election of presidents. Monge has been a strong opponent to the decision and has declared it illegal and a bad move for the country.
"For me, the flag and the name has being seized at this time... I will not leave the Partido Liberación Nacional (PNL), though the party is not what it was and I will not even think of helping out", said Monge.
Monge spoke out while giving his "official" support to Antonio Alvarez Desanti who is the presidential candidate for the Union Para Cambio (UPC) party.
"We hope that don Luis can participate in high level committee meetings", said Desanti.
